If you love your home and your neighbourhood, but want more space, adding a floor to a single-family home is a sustainable investment that will significantly increase the value of your home. These owners of a bungalow in Laval have decided to kill two birds with one stone, by adding a floor to their home, but also to completely transform its exterior appearance. Faced with this large-scale project, our team of architecture and design specialists set to work to create a detailed plan, which includes a 3D plan, a mock-up, a budget and a schedule, so that the client can have a precise idea of the final result.
Before starting the project, Construction Précellence obtained the necessary building permits for the floor addition to comply with the municipality’s regulations and standards. First, we built the new roof for the 2nd floor. Then, we demolished the existing roof and installed beams, framing and floor insulation. Then we erected the new walls, and added the roof. Our electricians are responsible for connecting the existing electrical system to the new floor. Finally, our finishing team completed the insulation, plastering, addition of lighting, floor covering and painting of the 2nd floor.
In the second part of the project, we removed all the windows and the exterior cladding, mainly made of bricks and wood. We added Energy Star casement windows, part of the vinyl siding, and a brick exterior siding. The new roof is covered with asphalt shingles. We have also added a front balcony with composite floor panels, steel railings and a concrete staircase.
