The renovation of a residential space such as a duplex is a very interesting project from every point of view. The owner of the duplex wanted to restore the beauty of his home and maximize the available space. One of the crucial aspects of this project was to maximize the potential of a limited space and create three rooms in one (kitchen, dining room, office) without unnecessarily cluttering the room.
Renovation work also means major demolition work. During the conceptualization of the project, we concluded that one of the walls had to be removed to create the space the client was dreaming of. We had to remove the cabinets, the kitchen counter and redo part of the windows to increase the brightness of this vast room. We have added two large full-length windows to let in the light, but also for a peaceful view of the backyard.
The first step was to change the linoleum floor to a laminate floor with a grey ceramic finish. Then, we started the work in the kitchen by adding custom counters (dining area for two people) with laminate covering. We opted for melamine for the custom kitchen cabinets, with a white and wood finish. We also modified the lighting in the kitchen for a ceiling light, suspended lamps for the counter and dining room table
We also had to create an office space for our client. At the latter’s request, we added custom-made melamine glass cabinets to maximize storage in both the office and part of the dining room. We have also added drawers so that the customer can go about his business without having to clutter up his workspace.
