When you think of your kitchen, you imagine a place that’s warm and inviting, but also practical and elegant. Sometimes, to achieve this result, it’s necessary to bring your kitchen up to date.
These homeowners in the Rosemont district wanted to give their 90s kitchen a breath of fresh air, while giving it a classic, distinguished feel. Together with our team of kitchen designers, we developed a detailed plan for the complete remodeling of this kitchen and its floor.
The first step was to remove all obsolete elements, such as cabinets, countertops and the worn linoleum floor. We then called in electricians to run the necessary wiring for light fixtures and new appliances.
For the floor, our customer wanted an unusual floor covering – cork. In addition to being durable and easy to maintain, cork is an excellent thermal insulator and is hypoallergenic. It will also be added in the adjacent dining room.
For the countertops, we opted for a white melamine covering, which is easy to clean and durable. The cabinets and drawers are also in white melamine, to create a uniform brightness in the kitchen. The countertop also features a stainless steel-finish range with ceramic glass cooktop and chimney hood, topped by a white ceramic backsplash.
As for the sink area, the owners chose an undermount, one-and-a-half-bowl sink with stainless steel-finish faucets. All appliances are in stainless steel finish, to enhance the classic style of this kitchen. In accordance with the customer’s wishes, we added ceiling lights in the kitchen and a pendant light in the dining room. The result is a kitchen with plenty of storage, bright and classic, yet still functional for everyday use.
