Project description
If you love your home, but life circumstances make you feel more cramped, adding a half-floor to your home is a smart solution. These clients on Montreal’s South Shore had found their dream home, but wanted a little more space. Our team recommended that they add a half-floor just above the garage, which would add a large room or two small rooms to their home. As soon as the decision was made, our design team created a 3D plan and a half-floor mock-up model that would be built just above the garage. Subsequently, we obtained all the necessary permits and licenses for the addition of a new floor in order to comply with the standards and regulations in effect in the municipality.
When we got the green light, we started building a second roof for the half-floor. Then, we demolished the existing roof above the garage, installed beams and insulated the floor. Then, our team erected the frame, walls, and new roof, and we sealed the building. We added energy-efficient casement windows at the front and back. Our electrician team added a brand-new electrical system, before plastering and painting the walls. The customer opted for the same exterior siding as his home, a vinyl siding that is robust and easy to maintain.
